Price is a signal. In a cash-pay telehealth market, how you price your services communicates the quality, exclusivity, and seriousness of your practice as powerfully as your credentials or your clinical outcomes. Understanding this dynamic — and deliberately setting prices that attract the right patients rather than the maximum volume of any patient — is a strategic decision that shapes the entire character of your practice.
High-value patients in hormone optimization are not defined primarily by income — they are defined by their commitment to their own health, their willingness to follow through on protocols, their ability to pay for quality care without requiring insurance, and their tendency to refer friends, family, and colleagues who share their orientation toward proactive health management. These patients are attracted to practices that signal high standards — through professional presentation, clear communication, comprehensive evaluation, and pricing that reflects serious clinical work.
Pricing below the market does not attract more patients — it attracts different patients. Patients who choose a provider primarily on price tend to be less committed to the therapeutic process, more likely to discontinue when results are not immediate, and less likely to generate referrals. A new consultation priced at $150 will fill a calendar with more patients than one priced at $400 — but the $400 patient is more likely to complete the full evaluation process, continue monthly management, and refer others who are similarly motivated.
Set your fees at the upper-middle of the market rate for your specialty and geography — not the highest (which can signal unvalidated exclusivity) and not below market (which signals you do not believe your own value). For initial hormone consultations, this typically means $300–$450. For monthly management, $130–$200. Review your fee schedule at the 6-month mark and again at 12 months as your clinical reputation and waitlist develop.
